Studying Game Programming at FutureGames
Learning how to make a game engine
Who is Felix?
I grew up in a rather small town in southern Sweden called Ystad. My biggest intrests in life has always been sports and videogames. But the path to becoming a programmer has been rather crooked.
After highschool my mind was set on working as a graphic designer and so I studied Graphic Design in Borlänge, Sweden, but only for a year on a 3 year education. Why did I stop after one year you might ask? Well, we had a programming course in Python which I loved and I felt that my itch to be creative and solve problems were more satisfied with coding rather than using other graphic design tools.
And so I switched education into Software Engineering in Karlskrona, Blekinge. Here all went well and I knew that I really found what I wanted to do in life. BUT, after a few months I happened to talked to a friend of a friend who had been working within the Game Developing industry. And we talked about her experiences in the industry which got me really intrested since I could work as a programmer and make games at the same time combining two of my favorite things to do!
So I did more research and during the summer after the first year of studying in Karlskrona, I sent in a last minute application to FutureGames in Malmö. I got accepted nine days before first day of school at FutureGames and I went with my gut to switch education once again and I have never looked back!
